TradeDoubler are not some little startup. They don't have any excuse for bad communication, yet they still send out totally meaningless emails to their publishers:
First the subject line:
"Apple ? Important Status Update"
So is it "Apple" or something else?
"Dear XXXXX,

They also sent out another email regarding Apple which again is badly worded and totally misleading.

These Guidelines can be reviewed at:

Why isn't it addressed to me? It's not as if they can't manage that ...
The subject line refers to "branding":
Apple IE: Affiliate Brand Guidelines
Branding is not exactly a subject that is going to have me rushing to open my email, yet, again, TradeDoubler are actually talking about something completely different and much more important than mere guidelines.
Look at the body of the email - note the "charming" threats ...
Now look at the PDFs ...
They aren't just about Apple / Tradedoubler expressing some preferences for how publishers place banners. They are, however, very clear rules on how publishers are meant to do things.
Tradedoubler - you really need to work on your communication. Seriously. Get your act together.

There are several serious issues with this email
- Which site does it refer to?
- How can TD claim to know what I am interested in or not?
- Why are they using US spelling?
- Which part of my account are they deactivating?
- Why was the subject line of the email so weird?

Eircom, one of Ireland's largest broadband and telecommunications companies, has just launched on the Tradedoubler network
They're offering an 80 euro bonus until January 16th on all broadband sales.
Nice!

TradeDoubler have announced the addition of the Bwin program to their portfolio. The Irish offices of TradeDoubler seem to be attracting a lot of new programs for Irish affiliates, so this is a very positive move.
I posted on my personal blog a couple of days ago about the new Screenclick site.
One of Screenclick's affiliates also posted on his blog about the site redesign and has now found that his account has been suspended!
Is this how most companies handle feedback from their affiliates???

Tradedoubler are currently conducting a survey of their publishers.
The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete, covers a range of issues that publishers may find interesting.
Unfortunately they don't give publishers any incentive to complete the questionnaire, so you'd have to wonder what kind of response rate they'll get and, more importantly, what they'll do with the feedback.

WhiteStar Mortgages will be shutting down their programme on the tradedoubler network on October 10th.
Will other financial services companies be following suit?

It looks like 2008 is going to be a very "big" year for Tradedoubler as they unveil even more changes in how they do things.
The changes affect several areas.
The first and most fundamental change is that publishers will have to validate their domain names. The method being offered is via the inclusion of a metatag in the header of the website.
Of course this means that any publishers offering shared revenue deals will no longer be able to do so (whether this was common or not is not clear).
Tradedoubler will also be asking publishers to identify more details of their sites / domains on signup ie. whether the site contains certain types of content.
The other changes should be welcomed by most publishers as they will help people wishing to add multiple sites/domains to their accounts and apply to more than one affiliate program at a time.

Apple is excited to announce a performance based incentivisation programme that comes into effect today, Sunday, June 8th and runs until Saturday, July 5th, inclusive.
As an acknowledgement of your efforts and input towards boosting the online activity of the Apple programme, the Apple Team has decided to increase commission pay out based on specific targets within the Irish market.
The extra remuneration will be distributed as follows:
*If APPROVED order value during the defined period is > EUR1740 you will receive +0.5% increase in commission
*If APPROVED order value during the defined period is > EUR2088 you will receive +1% increase in commission
I mentioned the introduction of Tradedoubler's new contextual ads a few weeks ago. At the time I didn't realise that they had catered for Google Adsense publishers, so I mentioned that you wouldn't be able to use Admatch alongside Adsense.
On further investigation it transpires that you can run the two simultaneously if you turn of the contextual code.
Simply login to Tradedoubler's control panel and go to create an ad using Admatch. There's an "advanced settings" section that you can select. Once in there turn off "automatic keywords" and set your own keywords.
It's not dissimilar to Chitika's non-contextual option
